GOING THE EXTRA MILE FOR SPORT RELIEF

By Daily Star Reporter

DAILY Star Sunday owner Richard Desmond put on his trainers to help raise cash for Sport Relief yesterday.

Mr Desmond, who also owns OK! Magazine and the Daily & Sunday Express, took part in Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile with the supermarket chain’s CEO Justin King.

Mr King, 48, has raised £100,000 by running 32 miles across the UK in four days – a mile in 32 different areas. Other runners joined Mr King in events to help raise more money for the charity.

And, as you can see in the exclusive video above - filmed by OK! TV - Mr King last night completed his final one-mile run in Barnet, north London, where he was joined by Mr Desmond.

Also taking part from the Daily Star Sunday’s Northern And Shell owners were joint managing directors Stan Myerson and Martin Ellice.

Sainsbury’s has now donated £4million to Sport Relief.

Mr King said: “I am absolutely bowled over by the support that has been given to this great cause.”

A total of more than £29million has so far been raised for Sport Relief across the nation.
