ITALY NO CROKE JOKE

DAILY STAR SUNDAY
ABOVE: Ireland's Ronan O'Gara
7th February 2010

Ireland launched their RBS 6 Nations title defence with a victory over Italy at Croke Park.

Jamie Heaslip and Tomas O’Leary crossed to help establish a 23-8 half-time lead – but the Grand Slam champions lost their way.

Italy scored their try through a Kaine Robertson charge-down but Ronan O’Gara (right) kept the scoreboard ticking over and finished with 16 points.

Man-of-the-match David Wallace said: “We had a job to do and we went out and did it.

“It was a very physical game up front. It’s good to get a win under our belts.

“Italy never gave up.”
